In September 2026, the Seine will be adorned with the colours of India. To mark the opening of the first traditional Hindu temple in France, a hindu parade on the Seine will bring together a flotilla of decorated boats along the banks of Paris, in a unique spiritual and festive procession.
The Diamant Bleu, the jewel of the Parisian fleet is taking part in this historic moment. Here’s everything you need to know about the event and how to experience it from the river, aboard our ship.
In the heart of Bussy-Saint-Georges in Seine-et-Marne, the BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir is preparing to open its doors. It will be the very first Hindu temple in France designed according to the principles of traditional architecture, built entirely of stone. Much more than a place of worship, the Mandir aims to be a space for learning, celebration, and encounter, open to visitors of all faiths and backgrounds.
To mark this inauguration, the BAPS community is organizing a vast cultural festival, the Paris Mandir Mahotsav, from September 2 to 14, 2026. Thirteen days of ceremonies, prayers and festivities on the Seine.
The highlight that interests us has a name: the Jal Yatra, literally “journey on water”. On Thursday morning, September 3, 2026, a procession of decorated boats will travel up the Seine through Paris, offering a spectacle of colors, music and fervor at the foot of the capital’s most iconic monuments.
This parade is not without precedent: in 1997, the spiritual leader Pramukh Swami Maharaj had already traveled along the Seine during a visit to Paris. Nearly thirty years later, the community is reviving this memory on the river which, in 2024, hosted the opening ceremony of the Olympics Games and its parade of delegations. The Seine thus becomes once again the stage for a grand procession, this time cultural and spiritual.
Among the twelve boats that will make up this procession on the Seine, Le Diamant Bleu occupies a place of honor. A veritable floating palace with an ultramodern aesthetic, our ship, specially decorated for the occasion, offers an incomparable view of the river and its banks.
For the event, Le Diamant Bleu will be making two sailing trips dedicated to serving the community: the first within the parade, alongside the ten other boats, and then a second solo trip on the Seine. In total, that’s nearly 800 members of the community that our ship will welcome on board throughout these celebrations.
Participating in the Jal Yatra is for The Blue Diamond this is an opportunity to join in a celebration that embodies universal values: peace, sharing, and dialogue between cultures. It also promises our passengers a privileged view of one of the most spectacular sights the Seine has seen in recent years.
